*GREATER IBERIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE*
*Title: *Executive Director
*Reports to:* Chairman of the Board of Directors/Executive Committee
*Exemption Status: *Exempt.
Full-time.
*Basic Function: *The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the mission of the Board.
The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for the operations of the Chamber of Commerce.
He/She serves as the primary staff point of contact for the officers, Executive Committee, Board of Directors and members.
The Executive Director along with the Board of Directors is dedicated to building a remarkable community creating prosperity and ensuring a sustainable and thriving economy for Iberia Parish.
*Major Responsibilities: * *Board and Committee Management* * Works directly with Chair of the Board and subsequently the full Board, in setting direction and implementing annual program of work and to create an environment of continual improvement.
* Monitors progress of strategic plan, staff and committees.
* Plans for and attends monthly Executive Committee meetings, Board meetings and Committee meetings.
* Maintains regular contact with Chairman of the Board for various chamber updates.
* Monitors Committee/Division goals and objectives.
Provides input and support.
*Membership Development* * Effectively communicate with potential members and current members * Create necessary plans of action for improvement in membership retention and growth *Event Management:* * Ensures implementation of signature events (within the annual plan of work) including: The World Championship Gumbo CookOff, Annual Banquet/Meeting of the members, Eggs andIssues, Inspire, Very Berry Christmas Quest.
* Maintaining open communication with current sponsors and potential new sponsors * Oversees the chamber’s supporting 501c3 organization, Greater Iberia Community Connection.
*Finance Management:* * Recommends annual budget and closely monitors financial position.
Signs contracts authorized within approved budget.
* Review monthly financials in conjunction with the Treasurer prior to presentation to the Board.
* Research and apply for grants that support Chamber events and needs.
*Office Management:* * Supervises staff and has responsibility of recruiting, hiring and releasing staff.
* Oversees day-to-day operations of Chamber including facility maintenance.
*Community Involvement* * In conjunction with Chamber Chairman and other designated Board Members serves as media spokesperson for the Chamber.
* Promote the community and generate growth opportunities * Support economic growth for businesses in our community *Leadership Programs:* * Ensures continuity of leadership development programs including Leadership Iberia and The FireStarter Project.
\*\*Other duties as they arise\*\* *GREATER IBERIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION* *Requirements*: * College or university degree preferred with coursework in business administration, public administration, marketing or other related degree a plus.
* Previous chamber experience preferred.
Substantial professional work in other professional community-based non-profits, governmental entities, or businesses may be substituted to show track record of volunteer management, bylaws execution, working with board of directors, etc.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Successful event planner.
* Excellent public speaking and written communication skills * Knowledge of governmental and political processes.
Able to attend public meetings when pertinent.
* Experienced in fund raising and fund development.
* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of volunteers, business and community leaders.
* Possess conflict resolution skills.
* Prepared to consistently promote position of Board of Directors, even if the position is not consistent with personal opinion.
* Successful grant writing a plus.
* Knowledge and experience in various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
* Well Groomed; Professional Dressed * Maintain a healthy relationship with new members after ribbon cuttings and beyond * Maintain proper office hours by beginning and ending the day at the office and keeping presence throughout the day.
* Effectively set and accomplish goals and targets.
* Other duties as required.
*Equipment:* The following items are made available to each employee in order to perform their jobs.
It is expected that they are used efficiently and properly as well as kept secure: Materials and Valuables: * Copy machine * Fax machine * Telephone * Computer * Cash *Work Environment:* * Work is performed in an office setting with some work performed at various event locations which may be indoors or outdoors.
*Physical Effort: * * Occasional standing, especially at functions outside the office * Must have ability to speak and hear continuously * Continuous sitting at a desk * Frequent bending * Frequent kneeling and reaching * Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds and on rare occasion lifting up to 50 pounds * Frequent repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers * Close vision required * Moderate noise * Job requires a high level of mental awareness (Note: In terms of an 8 hour day, “Occasionally” equals 1-33%, “Frequently” equals 34-66%, and “Continuously” equals 67-100% of the time.
