This job is responsible for working in collaboration with the Medical Director or approved staff physician and in association with administrative leaders and nursing staff and is accountable to supervise and lead their respective teams.
In addition, this job works with the specific service line or department leadership team in daily operations.
Takes a leadership role in overall program development and departmental initiatives, processes, and/or changes and encourages multidisciplinary collaboration.
This job demonstrates professionalism and effectively facilitates support of the APPs as well as actively participates in organizational committees to ensure alignment of APPs in the overall mission and vision of the organization.

Education Required – Master’s degree in Nursing Work Experience Required – 1 year working experience in the service line or department Preferred – 3 years’ related working experience Certifications Required – Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols and a department and campus/system level.
Job Duties Performs clinical duties of an APP within the respective department and utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care; provides education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and to the community.
Collaborates with the department chair or medical director, regional or system APP Lead, and administrative leader in facilitating the development, support and management of the APP group.
Facilitates change to meet organizational goals; develops and implements strategies to reduce costs and increase patient satisfaction; and actively participates in and leads discussion of quality results and patient feedback, problem solving and development of plans to improve quality of care and service.
Monitors competency, documentation and outcomes of care given by APPs.
Facilitates working relationships among all levels of staff to meet patient care requirements.
Provides clinical oversight, including work assignments, training and evaluation in accordance with the organization, and specific, respective departmental policies and procedures.
Follows up and supports efforts of colleagues to implement improvement action plans.
Actively participates in at least one council, hospital, committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area.
Models appropriate judgment in the follow-up of patient care issues, including use of physician, nursing and/or administrative chain of command.
Involvement with patient complaints and requests for service immediately and courteously.
Facilitates learning for other staff to become more effective in their role; provides coaching and team building to increase employee productivity and satisfaction; serves as a resource to staff for problem solving; and manages employee growth and development through coaching, counseling, and corrective actions including performance evaluations when appropriate.
Ensures that the appropriate internal controls, backups, and policy guidelines are communicated to department leaders so that immediate testing is completed prior to implementing any new processes as to minimize the calculated risks associated with the new process.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.
The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
