DS bus south is a school bus transportation service provider in the Lafayette/Broussard area and we are looking to add to our team.
Our school bus maintenance shop is located within our operation facility and is in need of an experienced mechanic.
This is a 1 person shop, so candidate must be able to work with little supervision.
On the job training provided, but applicant must have at least basic verifiable experience in troubleshooting and replacing/repairing parts, etc.
Our fleet is made up of Thomas buses with the majority of them being less than a year old and a few that are 2-3 years old; so most of the work is maintenance based however, we also do low to mid level repair work.
Major work such as extensive engine repair, transmissions etc.
are sent off for warranty repair.
Typical workweek is Monday - Friday with rare weekends as needed.
Looking for an upbeat and energetic person who is dependable and has a positive attitude.
Must pass a background check, No felonies or DWIs within the past 10 years, must pass pre-employment physical and drug test.
Must be self motivated and work well alone.
Must be able to complete our in-house CDL training program to obtain proper driver's license.
This is a full time position with benefits, paid holidays, and PTO.
Estimated first year income: $47K-$50K
*Essential Functions*
1.
General knowledge of parts and parts applications.
2.
Basic knowledge of shop paperwork, repair orders, time cards, PM reports etc.
3.
Proper and safe use of shop equipment.
4.
General knowledge of shop safety, eye protection, cleanliness etc.
5.
Comprehension of the company maintenance policy and procedures.
6.
Basic mechanical skills to include diagnosing maintenance problems on all types of company equipment.
Preferred experience with diesel equipment.
7.
Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
8.
Other duties as assigned.
