The Assistant Category Manager - Equipment is responsible for managing the Equipment business, executing a merchandising business plan, inclusive of developing potent product offerings, pricing management, inventory analysis and utilizing promotional marketing tools to maximize profitability under the Senior Director of Equipment Sales, Service, and Merchandising.
Key Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally with various internal teams and vendor partners to help build a compelling, market relevant collection of products.
Monitor product performance to ensure a lean and balanced product assortment
Using provided reporting tools, analyze the business and maximize profitability within each category
Execute the merchandise business plan, including all phases of initial merchandise selection, pricing, and vendor negotiations
Analyze market conditions and industry trends to identify the opportunity to add new product offerings
Monitor the marketplace for competitive product information, especially pricing, recommending and instituting changes accordingly
Partner with marketing to develop materials and promotions to successfully launch new products
Marketing responsibilities, including paginating seasonal brochures and catalogs, along with proofing copy and artwork and seeing it through completion
Manage vendor relationships; strategically purchase new products and promote via web and print marketing accordingly
Support the Sales teams by providing timely updates on product developments and information/resources to improve their capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management and other departments.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions
Negotiation and persuasion skills
Ability to deal with people and maintain an effective harmonious department
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business management or related discipline
1-2 years of experience in a related field
Intuitive sense for design and merchandising
Passion for merchandising and building a product assortment
