The Maintenance Supervisor leads the Maintenance Team in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment at Savage's Petroleum Refinery & Transportation operation in Lake Charles, LA.
Savage manages and performs critical steps in the Coke supply chain, including: management of product using heavy equipment at customer origination facility; transportation of product via Savage-owned assets to the designated customer facilities.
These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: • A safety focused culture that appreciates our Team Members • Uniforms and laundry service • Paid Time Off (“PTO”), Profit Sharing, Paid Holidays • Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) • A commitment to helping our Team Members do things that they never dreamed possible Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following: • Ensure all employees follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures and facilitate corrective action • Write and revise maintenance procedures as needed • Oversee development and execution of weekly maintenance schedule • Supervise daily maintenance activities and work force performing maintenance • Assist in all training of employees in proper maintenance techniques and equipment operation • Lead preventative maintenance practices • Maintain the CMMS to ensure the system is properly utilized • Maintain and constantly update critical parts list • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure that necessary amounts of inventory is in stock to reduce any delays or failures • Perform daily inspections and maintenance audits • Communicate with the customer in a professional and competent manner Work with the operation to schedule maintenance activities and planning schedules to accommodate the Customer’s production plans and emergency repairs as needed.
Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: • Maintenance: extensive knowledge of heavy equipment (excavators, front-end loaders), tractors and end dump trailers • Experience executing planned and scheduled maintenance activities with a focus to reduce emergency and reactive work • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, trouble shooting and problem solving Qualifications: Heavy Equipment, Diesel Tractor/Trailer: experience with high safety standards, understands the dangers of working in these types of environments, and understands how poor maintenance can be costly to such industries Excellent communication skills: written and spoken excellent organizational skills & multi-tasking.
Industry Background/Requirements: Ideal candidate will have many of the following minimum requirements: • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with tractor/trailers, and heavy equipment • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role, preferably maintenance • Background in Preventative Maintenance and Mechanical Reliability • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS • Background in planning and scheduling maintenance • Air Brake Certification is a plus • Experience with applying safety regulations and written procedures within a refinery or chemical plant is required • Strong familiarity with DOT safety regulations for commercial vehicles • High School Diploma or greater • Light welding and fabrication skills are a plus • Willingness to assist technicians with repairs when needed.
• Ability to work outside in any condition • Ability to be ‘on call’ • Should be comfortable working from elevated surfaces Here are some of the physical requirements for this role • The person should be in good physical condition.
