Position Title: Assistant Director
Department: 2010|Academic Success Center
Responsibilities:
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as Assistant Director of the Academic Success Center.
The Academic Success Center is part of the Student Success Division within Academic Affairs.
This position will collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the transfer student experience and to assist this student population with their transition to the University.
Duties of the position:
· Serve as a key point of contact for transfer students as they enter the University and begin their UL-Lafayette journey
· Work in close contact with academic departments regarding the successful transition of transfer students entering the University
· Conduct faculty and professional advisor training for the University community
· Serve as part of the Financial Aid Appeals Committee
· Support and provide advisement to new, transfer, and continuing undergraduate students
· Interpret university policies and implement procedures in the areas of student enrollment
· Provide additional outreach to assist at-risk students and work with students on academic improvement plans
· Actively participate in orientation throughout the summer
· Research best practices for transfer students and work to incorporate those best practices
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
-A minimum of four years professional progressive experience in advising, student affairs, enrollment management, or a related area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as an academic advisor
-Working knowledge of transfer student needs and transfer coursework policies
- Familiarity with the following placement tests including but not limited to: ACCUPLACER, ACT, SAT, etc.
- Strong understanding of various technologies including Banner and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm under pressure and to adapt quickly to change
