*Job Title:* Payroll Specialist

*Reports To:* Payroll Manager
*Summary:*
This position oversees and participates in the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll data for up to 1,400 employees.
The individual must maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
They must be a proactive, efficient, and resourceful, with a high level of professionalism.
*Primary Responsibilities:*
· Leads the weekly payroll process, including the entire cycle of payroll processing from capturing of new employees, leave, terminations, etc.
and acts as backup to the Payroll Manager for the bi-weekly payroll.
· Ensure that employee changes, including wage and time adjustments, are properly authorized, entered correctly and recorded in a timely basis.
· Upload labor hours from timecard system and maintain proper document control system.
· Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
· Prepare local, state, and federal tax payments and assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns, as well as W2’s.
· Provide excellent customer service to both employees and project support staff and manage sensitive, confidential information with tact, discretion, and diplomacy.

*Qualifications/Requirements*
· High School diploma and 3 - 5+ years of full cycle, multi-state payroll processing experience is required.
· Thorough understanding of payroll, including taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments.
· Hands-on experience in a large payroll environment supporting a minimum of 600+ employees.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
